Juneteenth Events in NYC 2025
Juneteenth is more than a holiday—it’s a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black joy. As the oldest nationally recognized commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, Juneteenth (observed annually on June 19) invites us to honor history, uplift our community, and create space for celebration, healing, and pride.
Here in New York City, Juneteenth weekend brings an incredible lineup of events—some reflective, others full of music, dance, and good food. Whether you're looking to enjoy live performances in the park or take part in a powerful cultural ceremony, this year's calendar has something for everyone.

Why Juneteenth Still Matters
Even as Juneteenth gains more national recognition, its roots remain deeply emotional and political. It marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
It's a reminder that freedom is not just declared—it must be fought for, defended, and celebrated.
This week, we invite you to show up however you can: attend a celebration, support a Black-owned brand, read about Black history, or simply rest.
Kana Company is Proud to Celebrate Black Freedom and Joy
As a Black woman-owned brand, Kana Company was born out of struggle but built on joy, beauty, and self-expression. Our products are for women of all shades and shapes who want to feel supported and seen—on Juneteenth and every day.
